We over here at japan_calls wanted to promote another community called help_mindanao.

This community was created to raise funds to assist the people of Mindanao, Philippines, after being hit by one a typhoon which led to horrible amounts of flooding. Over 900 people in Mindanao, Philippines, have died in the floods that Typhoon Sendong (local name)/Washi (international name) just days before Christmas. Hundreds more are missing. Over 100,000 people have been displaced.

help_mindanao is a multi-fandom, multi-media auction with the intention of uniting everyone under one cause: Help Mindanao.

Hey guys,

Sorry it's been radio silence around here for so long but just a little update. Tanya is without a charger for her laptop right now, which contains half the receipts for the donations. She's also been almost without internet for a few months now as well. So as soon as she can get both straightened out and get access to her laptop again, we'll announce the total Japan Calls made. Or roughly the total. Because a lot of people raised their initial bids and we are SO THANKFUL FOR THAT!

First of all, if you haven't already ALL WINNERS please read THIS POST. Thank you!

Second, just want to clear up some confusion that some people seem to be having when the auctions ended. Tanya screened comments EXACTLY at 11:59 P.M. Eastern time. She made sure. She double made sure, triple made sure. In fact, I'm pretty sure she was working herself sick to make sure she did it exactly right and exactly at the right time. So please do not fault Tanya for that. As soon as Tanya screened comments, the auction and bidding were officially over.

The reason we screened comments was so we can freeze all the threads to prevent ANYONE from bidding after the auction was over. Also, so we can weed out any comments that happened to come through at the very last minute AFTER the auction was over. After we did that, we then unscreened all the bids that were valid as well as the highest winning bid at the end of each thread. All bids that are visible are the valid bids. Meaning, the comment boxes on those bids are BLUE not gray. A gray box means your comment was screened, therefore not valid.

Also, Tanya and I get every single bidding notification sent to our emails. Even if someone changes, deletes, or edits their bids, we still get them. We get all the original bids, as well as every other bid they make after that. So we have every single bid in our emails. So to be even more thorough, right when Tanya screened all the comments we monitored our emails and made sure that every bid that came AFTER the auction was OVER, did not count. We hopefully didn't make any mistakes. We went over everything about five times over.

So I hope this clears up some confusion.

We understand perfectly the frustration and sadness some of you are feeling over losing your bid on your favorite entertainer, we really do. Be it Livejournal messed up for you the last minute, or your clock was a minute off, or your computer/browser froze, you have our sympathies and we are sorry that happened to you. However, since Livejournal was up and running about the last seven hours of our auction, we went through with it. And several bids and a majority of people were still able to get through. So their bids will stand.

Again, so very sorry and we understand the frustration. But we also truly hope that you all also understand that in the long run, you were doing what you could to help Japan. That ultimately even though winning a personalized message from your favorite entertainer was AMAZING inspiration, which is why we started this charity in the first place, your donations are going towards a country in great need of help right now. So we still encourage you to donate to all the various charities helping out Japan even if you did not win.

Again, thank SO SO MUCH for your time and generosity.

All we need is your name and proof of the amount of your donation as well as the charity you donate to. • Your first name
• The total amount of your final bid

If you bid anonymously and you are the winning bid please comment on this post with your NAME and a CONTACT EMAIL where we can reach you. It is VERY important that you comment on this post so we can match your IP address with the IP address of the winning anonymous bid so we can make sure you are the same person.

♠ If you have won more than one entertainer, you do not have to donate separately to several different charities. If you prefer, you can donate the total amount of all your bids to one charity.

♠ If you are donating as a group, please let us know how you would want the entertainer(s) you have won to address you in the message. Also, if you have any other specific requests, a happy birthday, etc. We can't guarantee you what said entertainer(s) will further say in your personalized message because anything more/less is up to them. ♠ If for whatever reason the person with the highest bid cannot fulfill their donation, we will contact the person with the next highest bid.

We will start the task of contacting the entertainers as soon as we have received the donation confirmation from each person who has won. We really hope they can get back to us with the recorded messages as soon as possible but they are under no obligation to do so. As they are under no obligation to fulfill the end of their agreement as well. It is not a binding contract. So while each entertainer has agreed to be a part of our charity (you can see all the confirmation screenshots of their agreement on our confirmed entertainers post HERE) we are not responsible for any entertainer backing out. But it has come to our attention that some of you are confused on how to bid. We have already explained in great detail on how to bid exactly on the HOW TO BID post. Please. PLEASE we really encourage you all to read that post CAREFULLY before you bid, because it is very IMPORTANT. Please remember to bid on the ORIGINAL THREAD of the entertainer of your choice. NOT IN REPLY to the bidder before you. We will keep those bids up, but for the future please please please please remember to click “Reply to this” on the ORIGINAL thread NOT to the bidder before you. If you are not sure how this looks like HERE IS THE SCREENCAP.

Second, like we said, please do NOT create a thread for an entertainer on your own. Those threads will automatically be DELETED. Tanya and I have already created all the individual threads of all the entertainers involved. Please bid on THOSE threads.

Lastly, all bidding is in U.S. Dollars. If you are bidding internationally, you do NOT have to donate in U.S. currency. HOWEVER, you DO have to CONVERT your currency to U.S. dollars when you actually BID. This allows the bidder after you to know exactly what dollar amount to bid next. All actual bids not converted to U.S. currency will be DELETED. A helpful site on how to convert your currency CAN BE FOUND HERE.

Again, all of this is explained in our HOW TO BID post. We will make a post (or two if it's required) that will host the names of all the entertainers that have confirmed. In the post we will make an individual thread for each entertainer that has signed up and you will bid on the particular thread of the entertainer(s) of your choice.

Since a lot of you who are bidding may not be familiar with Livejournal or simply are not a member or do not have one, no problem! Because Livejournal provides you with five ways in which you can comment.

You can comment from:

1. Your own Livejournal
2. Twitter
3. Facebook
4. Anonymously
5. OpenID

- If commenting from Livejournal, Twitter, or Facebook, all you have to be is logged on and signed in to comment.

- If commenting anonymously please sign your name in the comments so we know who you are.

First off, my extreme gratitude to everyone who has helped make japan_calls such a success. This is truly a team effort and so every one of you involved deserves all the thanks in the world.

But as we grow more in name, we expect more visitors.

So I wanted to issue a disclaimer here:

Neither moeymoe or myself are responsible for celebrities/"voices" that do not live up to their end of the deal. While I hope that they all live up to their end of the agreement, we should be prepared if a voice does not fulfill their deal. So while the celebrities HAVE agreed (and in our list of voices you WILL find proof of their agreement) - things, unfortunately, do happen.

So while as of now we are 99.9% sure that your donation will receive what you bid for, we are not to be held responsible for another not doing what they had said they would.

This community is brand new and very applicable to change as time goes on.

If you're here, that means in some way, you want to help. And for that, I say thank you.

The idea of this community is to give inspiration to others to give to a country in great need through the voice of entertainers that we admire. Provided that they are willing, we will host auctions where members (or non-members, this will be open to anyone willing to give) will bid on receiving either a

A) 15 second PERSONALIZED voice recording. (example provided at bottom)

B) Provided they are willing, a personalized YouTube video of their desired length.

However. I do not want people scamming others out of a cause of great importance. If you are a bidder who has won, I ask that you provide PROOF of your bid to a charity connected to Japan of your choice. (We will provide a list of options in a future post.) If you cannot provide such, we will have to go to the second highest bidder. Only myself, (or other mod depending on the success rate of this community) will see it.
